Scott Lindell

Scott Lindell is a marine biologist with 15 years of commercial fish farming experience prior to returning to full-time research and development in 2002. As the Director of the Scientific Aquaculture Program at the Marine Biological Laboratory from 2004 - 2016, he conducted research on improving methods for culturing fish, shellfish and seaweeds in cooperation with natural resource management agencies and commercial enterprises. Recently funded projects include development of partnerships and methods for open-ocean mussel and seaweed farming.  He is a leading national proponent for the expansion of offshore marine farming, and was responsible for obtaining permits of the first commercial aquaculture lease in Federal waters of the East Coast in 2014.  He advises offshore aquaculture developments in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, Alaska, California and Morocco.
