Canada is a world leader and pioneer in the mussel aquaculture industry. This video focuses on the mussel seeding and
socking process on the Brudenelle River in Prince Edward Island (PEI). Blue mussels (Mytilus edulis) are the predominant
aquaculture species on PEI. Today, the PEI mussel industry represents 80% of Canadian mussel production. This video
provides a glimpse into wild seed (spat) collection and the on-shore de-clumping, grading and socking process.
